Author Guidelines

Thank you for choosing the Veritas Journal of Social, Legal and Humanistic Studies  for your research. To ensure a smooth peer-review process, authors must adhere strictly to the following guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements will be returned for technical revision before being sent to reviewers.

1. General Requirements

  • Originality: Submissions must be original, not previously published, and not under consideration by another journal.

  • Language: All manuscripts must be written in clear, concise English.

  • Format: Files should be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.

  • Anonymization: For our Double-Blind Peer Review, please remove all author names, affiliations, and identifying metadata from the main manuscript file. Provide a separate Title Page with author details.

2. Manuscript Structure

Standard research papers should generally follow the IMRaD structure:

  1. Title: Concise and informative (max 20 words).

  2. Abstract: A single paragraph (200–250 words) summarizing the objective, methodology, results, and conclusion.

  3. Keywords: 4 to 6 keywords for indexing purposes.

  4. Introduction: Background, problem statement, and objectives.

  5. Methodology: Clear description of the research design, participants/materials, and procedures.

  6. Results: Clear presentation of findings using tables and figures where necessary.

  7. Discussion & Conclusion: Interpretation of results, limitations, and practical implications.

  8. References: List all cited sources.

3. Formatting & Style

  • Font: Times New Roman, 12pt, double-spaced.

  • Tables/Figures: Must be placed within the text where they are first mentioned. Titles should be descriptive (e.g., Table 1: Demographic Profile of Participants).

  • Citations: The Veritas Journal of Social, Legal and Humanistic Studies follows the APA 7th Edition (or your preferred style, e.g., Harvard or Vancouver) for in-text citations and the reference list.

4. Policy Compliance (Mandatory)

Authors must confirm compliance with the following during the submission process:

  • Plagiarism: Similarity must be below 10% (excluding references). The Veritas Journal of Social, Legal and Humanistic Studies follows UGC guidelines for plagiarism levels.

  • AI Usage: Use of generative AI must be disclosed. AI-generated text/content must not exceed 20% of the manuscript.

  • Ethics: Studies involving humans or animals must include an Ethics Statement and confirm that Informed Consent was obtained.

5. Submission Checklist

Before uploading to the OJS portal, ensure you have:

  • [ ] A Title Page (Names, Affiliations, ORCID iDs, and Contact Email).

  • [ ] An Anonymized Manuscript (No author details).

  • [ ] High-resolution figures (if applicable).

  • [ ] A Conflict of Interest statement.

  • [ ] Disclosure of any Funding Sources.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.

  • Editorial Management: Processing manuscript submissions, coordinating peer review, editorial decisions, copyediting, production, and publication.
  • Communication: Contacting authors, reviewers, and editors regarding submissions, publication updates, journal announcements, and editorial correspondence.
  • Indexing and Metadata: Providing accurate author metadata for DOI registration, indexing services, abstracting databases, and citation systems.
  • Website Administration: Managing user accounts, maintaining website functionality, improving user experience, and generating anonymous usage statistics.

3. Disclosure of Personal Information

VJSLHS respects the confidentiality of personal information and does not share user data with third parties except under the following circumstances:

  • Scholarly Publishing Services: Metadata relating to published articles (such as author names, affiliations, ORCID iDs, article titles, abstracts, and corresponding author contact information where applicable) may be shared with DOI registration agencies, indexing databases, library services, and abstracting platforms.
  • Legal Obligations: Information may be disclosed where required by applicable law, judicial proceedings, or governmental authorities.

4. Data Security and Retention

  • Security: Appropriate technical and administrative safeguards are implemented through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform and related infrastructure to protect personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
  • Retention: Author information associated with published articles forms part of the permanent scholarly record and will generally remain publicly available to preserve the integrity of academic citations.
  • Account Management: Registered users may access, update, or correct their personal information through their journal account at any time.

5. Cookies

The journal website uses cookies and similar technologies solely to support essential website functionality, maintain secure user sessions, improve navigation, and enhance the overall user experience. These cookies do not collect sensitive personal information.

6. Confidentiality of Peer Review

All manuscripts submitted to VJSLHS are handled through a confidential editorial and double-blind peer-review process. Reviewer identities are protected throughout the review process, and all editorial participants are expected to maintain strict confidentiality regarding submitted manuscripts and associated communications.

7. User Rights

Users may request access to their personal information, correct inaccurate data, or update their profile information by logging into their journal account or contacting the editorial office. Requests will be handled in accordance with applicable legal and ethical requirements.

8. Consent

By registering with the journal, submitting a manuscript, serving as a reviewer, or using the journal website, users acknowledge and consent to the collection, processing, and use of their personal information as described in this Privacy Statement.

9. Policy Updates

VJSLHS reserves the right to revise this Privacy Statement periodically to reflect changes in legal requirements, publishing standards, or journal operations. Updated versions will be published on the journal website, and continued use of the journal's services constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
